BSS Industrial opens Engineering Centre of Excellence

BSS Industrial, the UK’s leading distributor of pipeline and heating solutions, has opened an Engineering Centre at its Pegler & Louden facility in Nottingham. Uniting BSS Industrial’s specialist brands under one roof, the Engineering Centre brings together the valve and actuation expertise of Pegler & Louden, the carbon and stainless expertise of Austin Stroud and the pump spares and service capability of AMS Pumps.

As part of the BSS Group’s recent £500,000 investment in the industrial market, the Engineering Centre offers specialist technical sales and operational expertise to customers in the building services, industrial and process markets. The investment cements BSS’ position as the most innovative and customer focused mechanical services distributor in the UK.

The Centre offers specialist technical sales expertise for:
- Valves and actuation
- Carbon and stainless tubular products
- Pumps spares and servicing

Operational Expertise is available for:
- Valve assembly actuation & testing
- Seat and seal changes and recertification
- Certified and general arrangement drawings in 2D and 3D
- Project and contract capability
- Full documentation packages
- Specialised machining for modification of flange product
- Specialised machining for customer’s special requirements
- Pump spares, service and commissioning

The facility is supported by BSS Industrial’s national logistics operation at Magna Park, Leicestershire and its 150 strong fleet of delivery vehicles, ensuring next day delivery and collection in most cases.

As a part of its major investment in the industrial business, BSS has also recently completed a number of initiatives designed to further improve its API and stainless steel offering. The national logistics operation at Magna Park has been equipped with purpose built cantilever racking capable of storing the 500 tonnes of API and stainless steel tube now held at the centre. Additional tube stock is now also held at key branches across the country. Combined, the investment means that BSS customers now have access to over 750 tonnes of carbon, stainless steel and API stock across the whole of the UK.
