Emerson alliance to bridge maintenance-production planning gap
8 Dec 2006
According to Emerson, the new alliance bridges the gap between operations and maintenance, helping process manufacturers perform advanced condition-based maintenance as well as optimized production planning.
Mtelligence’s technology connects plant asset management information with EAM systems based on the Open O&M (Operations and Maintenance) initiative, which specifies how plant predictive maintenance systems interact with EAM systems. The use of industry standards ensures uniform interfaces and shields users from upgrade and migration risks of proprietary connectivity solutions, said Emerson.
In an Emerson press statement, Cliff Pedersen of Suncor Energy Inc. said: “By leveraging the Open O&M Initiative and collaborating with Emerson, Mtelligence, and SAP, we anticipate implementing a solution which will tap into the intelligence of our smart field assets and predictive maintenance applications to further automate our work processes."
The alliance with Mtelligence “provides significant O&M savings for our customers by enabling the use of rich predictive diagnostics from AMS Suite applications to intelligently create and document work in their EAM systems,” added Craig Llewellyn, president of Emerson’s Asset Optimization Division.
