BP launches Carbon Challenge
23 Jan 2007
Over 400 schools invited to participate in new education programme starting in September
London -- Over 400 schools and some 60,000 students aged from 14-16 are being invited by BP to participate in a Carbon Challenge education programme, commencing September this year.
The programme has the twin themes of carbon footprint and climate change. It is being operated in partnership with the Science Museum and concentrates on science, mathematics and enterprise linked to the relevant UK education curricula and guidelines.
Teachers will have a one-day training programme delivered regionally around the UK by Science Museum staff. This will be followed by the BP Carbon Challenge Roadshow, where students will learn how to measure their carbon footprint and devise strategies to help reduce carbon emissions.
Registration for the challenge will commence in May.
