AVEVA boss is business person of the year
25 Jan 2007
Cambridge, UK -- AVEVA chief executive Richard Longdon has won the Daily Telegraph’s Business Person of the Year 2006 award in recognition of his successful stewardship of the Cambridge-based software company. He beat J Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer’s chief executives Justin King and Stuart Rose for the prize voted for by the newspaper’s online readers.
Under Longdon’s leadership, AVEVA, which provides software solutions for the power, marine and oil & gas sectors, has “consistently beaten expectations and has seen its share price more than double over the past year,” according to an AVEVA statement.
”AVEVA’s success in 2006 was a combination of a long-term investment plan for the business coming to fruition at the same time as our main end-user markets hitting good times. I’m delighted that the market has recognised us this year for what we've been doing consistently for years. We have a very loyal and strong investor base who understands the business well,” said Longdon.
