D1 advances UK biodiesel production plan

Merseyside acquisition part of plan to reach capacity of 420,000 tonnes by the end of 2008
London -- UK biodiesel producer D1 Oils plc has completed the acquisition of a second major biodiesel site, at Bromborough on Merseyside. The facility will complement D1's refinery site at Middlesbrough, Teesside, in the North East of England, which currently has 32,000 tonnes of biodiesel production capacity.
D1's Middlesbrough site houses four of the company’s 8,000-tonne D1 20 units, which produce biodiesel for sale to UK refiners. The company also plans to deploy a further six D1 20 units at the site during 2007, which would bring its capacity up to around 100,000 tonnes and plans to reach an overall capacity of 420,000 tonnes by the end of 2008.
Last October, D1 concluded its first major off-take deal with a contract for the sale of around 24,000 tonnes of biodiesel over a 12-month period to Petroplus Refining Teesside Ltd, part of Petroplus, the UK's largest independent refiner of crude oil and distributor of petroleum products.
