Waltham, Massachusetts -- Thermo Electron Corp. and Fisher Scientific International Inc. have completed their merger. The new company -- Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., headquartered in Waltham -- has sales of around $9 billion and 30,000 employees in 38 countries worldwide.
Thermo Fisher Scientific supplies the laboratory; healthcare, including hospitals and clinics; and process, manufacturing and the field, including portable instruments for environmental applications, security and personal protection.
Marijn Dekkers, president and CEO of Thermo Fisher Scientific, said the merged entity “is equipped to help solve measurement and analytical challenges facing today’s leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies, hospitals and clinical diagnostic labs, universities, research facilities and government agencies, as well as customers within the environmental and industrial process control industries.”
