Low Vibration high-torque angle wheel grinder
5 Mar 2007
Ingersoll Rand further improves its 1kW high-torque grinder range, adding to all new G3A models an automatic wheel balancer system which sets new standards in health and safety for the operator. These grinders are specifically designed for industries where heavy steel parts or systems are a key issue: boat building, railway body shell maintenance, trailer manufacture, foundries and steel fabrication and maintenance of petrochemical plants… For the 125mm angle grinder, the vibration on the side handle is reduced by 93%, and on the tool body, by 40%.
Auto balancing system
Ingersoll Rand teams have developed a specific mechanical system consisting of rolling balls and imbalance masses that permanently counterbalance the inertial effects of the grinder and re-position the centre of gravity onto the geometric centre of the tool body. The auto balancer counteracts any imbalance in the final drive of the motor and in the abrasive wheel. This system is immediately effective from start up and continues until the grinder stops.
Spring system
As an option, the G3A grinders are equipped with an anti-vibration side handle. A specific spring system is included in the handle design. As a result, the handle is fixed in the horizontal plane and can flex vertically only. During the push and pull movement by the operator, dampening action saves the tool from vibration, whilst maintaining a maximum feeling of control.
The autobalancing provided with the new G3A 1kW angle grinder extend the life of grinding wheels by up to 30%.
Reliability
The new G3A grinder benefits from a high level of reliability. Angle heads have a 2000 hr warranty, all other parts have a 1 year or 500 hrs warranty. The standard one year warranty can be extended to 2 years with the purchase of an optional warranty kit.
Models
The new G3A grinders are available in three guard sizes – 115mm, 125mm and 150mm
