Equipment maker to use radar meters in dry vacuum pumps for the chemical and pharma industries
London -- Vacuum equipment maker BOC Edwards has opted to use Krohne's Optiflex TDR level radar meter in its range of dry vacuum pumps for the chemical and pharma industries. The instruments are designed to accurately measure the volume of recovered carrier liquids.
Dry vacuum pumps are used in the chemical and pharma process industries to condense carrier chemicals and solvents and to transport powdered product, such as drugs, during production to facilitate recovery.
The Optiflex meters are designed to accurately measure the amount of liquid carrier recovered from the manufacturing process. This, claims Krohne, enables companies to reduce manufacturing costs by ensuring that as much of the liquid as possible is extracted and then reused in production.
The meters provide a signal to the digital control system, which allows the vessel to be emptied when it reaches a predetermined level, preventing it from overflowing into the vacuum pump or system.
