System enabling Glanbia to optimise and stabilise evaporation and drying processes
Dublin – Irish dairy-based food ingredients group Glanbia PLC is employing a new advanced process control (APC) system at its Virginia dairy production plant. The system-- Honeywell’s Profit Controller -- is being integrated with an existing Honeywell Experion Process Knowledge System R300.
Glanbia is using the APC system to optimise and stabilise energy-intensive evaporation and drying processes at the plant. This has enabled it to increase production while meeting the strict quality levels for its products, which go to the food and beverage industries.
“We have already seen an impact to our bottom line and are currently evaluating whether other Glanbia plants would benefit from similar implementations,” said Alan Magovern, engineering and maintenance manager, Glanbia PLC.
“By giving Glanbia tighter control over its processes, we were able to help the company maximise production and use their resources more effectively,” said Paul Smith, Honeywell Process Solutions country business leader, UK & Ireland.
