Greerco Homogenizers Enhance Mixing Process
26 Jun 2007
Mixers made by Derby-based Chemineer have enhanced the manufacturing process at Reckitt Benckiser, the world leader in cosmetic depilatories/hair removal products (also based in Derby), which include the UK's best selling range of hair removal creams and waxes, Veet.
Chemineer’s bottom-entry Greerco model 2.5-HRFMB (4.0 kW) is successfully blending one of Veet’s key ingredients prior to it being added to the main mixing tank. Here, a standard flange mounted 6-HRFM (18.5 kW) Greerco Homogenizer continues the process, resulting in an improved, more consistent quality product and a reduction in waste from the process.
Barry Phillips, Process Group Leader at Reckitt Benckiser, commented: “We have worked very closely with Chemineer to optimise our blending process and have been given very good back-up service from a company that clearly understands mixing technologies”.
Designed as a high-speed, high-shear batch mixer that is ideal for fast blending and homogenizing of materials through a wide range of viscosities, the Greerco Homogenizer (which can be supplied up to 37 kW) benefits from being dual rotational. Available for open-tank applications or flanged for closed tank fitting, the dual rotation of the Greerco Homogenizer gives it the significant advantage of being able to alter the flow pattern in a tank.
Capable of continuously drawing unrefined materials from the entirety of the mixing vessel, and forcing them to pass through restricted openings in the stator, this proven mixing technology from Chemineer subjects mixtures to intense mechanical and hydraulic sheer forces.
