Coverter cuts compressed air energy costs by 42%

London -- Orvec International Ltd has achieved a 42% drop in its annual compressed air energy costs through an energy efficient frequency controlled screw compressor. The purchase of the Boge SF60 unit, which has cut energy consumption by over 64,000 kwh per annum, was financed with a Carbon Trust Energy-Efficiency loan.
The selection of the Boge unit followed a routine maintenance visit from Orvec's compressed air provider Norman Walker (Machinery). This, and a subsequent data logging exercise, prompted Orvec to upgrade its existing fixed speed screw compressor system altogether.
Hull-based Orvec requires compressed air for its converting machinery for transforming rolls of fabric into in-flight products such as pillows, headrest covers and blankets. The Boge frequency controlled screw compressor works in accordance with the compressed air demand by producing the exact volume of compressed air at the pressure required.
