Hamamatsu Photonics manufacture a wide variety of x-ray line sensor products, used in diverse applications in medical, security and industrial markets. The latest C9750 is used for applications from inspection of packaging, pharmaceuticals, industrial moulded metallic components, tyres, turbines, building materials, bone and glass in food stuffs, bottles, pipes, tin cans and many more. X-ray inspection has been used in recent times for not only fault and contamination detection, but also for more routine industrial process checking of product characteristics such as density and weight.
The latest line sensor devices from Hamamatsu, the C9750 series, provides a complete x-ray camera solution to the end–user. The C9750 offers a 12 bit digital output via RS422 or camera link interface and USB or IEEE1394 (firewire) interface can be provided for OEM solutions. Compared to previous line sensors and other linear cameras on the market, this new model offers enhanced noise performance, wider dynamic range, higher scanning speeds, on-board control of all sensor functions and diagnostics and essentially zero drift in the output over long periods of operation. Crucially, this unit offers simple “plug and play” functionality.
Hamamatsu has also just released an improved 0.2 mm resolution version of this line sensor, the highest resolution currently in the market place. Combined with its high sensitivity, the end-user can now easily detect smaller defects.
