Nestlé equipment failures down a quarter

Programme included employing a dedicated service engineer to manage lubrication maintenance throughout the plant
Nestlé has cut lubrication-related equipment failures by around 25% over the past year, through the implementation of a proactive preventative maintenance programme at its Halifax production site.
Last summer, the food company contracted Rocol Lubricants to manage lubrication at the plant. The contract included employing a dedicated, full-time Rocol service engineer to manage lubrication maintenance throughout the plant.
Regular meetings between the Rocol account manager, on site service engineer and Nestlé project engineer, Stephen Pollitt, keep the lubrication management programme on track. Weekly service engineer reports, meanwhile, enabled Nestlé to monitor machine performance across the site.
According to Pollitt, the regular reporting structure quickly flagged up potential problems and, more importantly, delivered timely solutions to avoid costly machine downtime.
“Rocol’s forward thinking approach has really impressed us, and we will certainly be renewing their contract based on our positive experiences over the last ten months,” Pollitt said in a Rocol press statement.
