AMEC completes Azerbaijan project
London – AMEC and its partners in the AMEC-Tekfen-Azfen (ATA) consortium have completed and shipped the process, compression, water injection and utilities (PCWU) topsides for the Azerbaijan International Oil Co. (AIOC).
Part of the Azeri, Chirag and Gunashli field development operated by BP for the AIOC, the 12.700 kilotonne PCWU will produce oil and gas from the deepwater Gunashli field. This is located in 175 metres of water in the Caspian Sea, about 120 kilometres from the coast of Azerbaijan.
The PCWU project began in mid-2005 following the successful completion of the compression and water injection topsides for the Central Azeri field. The project safety record saw more than 7.4 million man-hours being worked without a day-away-from-work case, added AMEC.
