London - Sweden-based natural dairy manufacturer Milko operates a CIP (Clean In Place) system that cleans the vats used to float cheeses in a saline solution. Until recently the system was manual, which meant that employees needed to calculate and add additives into the vats each day to cleanse the system.
To improve the process, Milko installed new semi-automatic CIP system employing a DME dosing pump from Grundfos Alldos to accurately dose the required acid and lye. This enables operators to specify the dose required and let the pump take care of the rest and gives them full control over the speed, acceleration and position of the diaphragm for precise additive delivery.
“The new pumps in the CIP system are very easy to use and you know straight away what to do to achieve the best results, said Lars Rudh, Milko’s operations engineer. “We are planning to use DME pumps in other parts of our system.”
