Quinn adds 1000 valves
1 Oct 2007
Quinn Glass has installed over 1000 mechanical service butterfly valves from Tomoe on the furnace and filling hall pipeline links at its new 70,000 m2 manufacturing plant at Ince in Cheshire, UK. The facility, which started production late last year, is ramping up to manufacture five million bottles a day and has 58 filling vessels for various alcopops and beer filling operations.
The new plant will operate 13 glass production lines and five filling lines, with a production capacity of over 4 million containers per day and a filling capacity of over 600 million units/year.
Working with consulting engineering contractor, Lawrence Mechanical Ltd, Tomoe supplied 820 of its wafer and lugged rubber lined 700 series butterfly valves covering the size range DN50 - DN600.
The valves, said Tomoe, were supplied on a rapid response, call-off basis over a three-month period. Since then a further 210 valves have been supplied, again on a rapid response, call-off basis, during the past two months. These 800 series polymeric-seated valves offer low torque, high wear properties and high chemical resistance, while the 700 series rubber-seated valves feature a patented cosine curved seat, profiled disc and triple stem sealing for leak-tight, low torque and extended seat life.
