Heineken would assume control of S&N’s business in the UK and other European markets with Carlsberg to acquire S&N's interest in BBH, France and Greece
Amsterdam - Heineken NV.and Carlsberg A/S are in talks to set up a consortium to make a cash bid for Scottish & Newcastle plc. Under the plan, Heineken said it would take over S&N’s business in the UK and other European markets with Carlsberg to acquire S&N's interest in BBH, France and Greece.
"To date no formal approach has been made to Scottish & Newcastle and there can be no certainty that an offer for Scottish & Newcastle will ultimately be forthcoming. A further announcement will be made in due course," according to a 17 Oct joint statement.
