Rockwell snaps up Pavilion Technologies
14 Nov 2007
Rockwell Automation has entered into a definitive agreement to buy Pavilion Technologies for an undisclosed sum.
Pavilion specialises in the supply of systems for advanced process control, production optimisation and environmental compliance. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, with offices in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, it serves customers in consumer products, oil & gas, chemicals and other process industries.
The Pavilion management team and employees will become part of Rockwell Automation's architecture & software segment. Its software products will be integrated into Rockwell's FactoryTalk production and performance suite, as well as the Logix control platform.
Senior vice president Steven Eisenbrown said the combination of Pavilion Technologies' predictive modelling capabilities with Rockwell's integrated architecture "will help our customers create a more agile, efficient and consistent production environment. That translates into faster response to market demands at lower cost with better quality."
Market researcher Colin Masson of Boston-based AMR Research said: "In terms of technology, no one comes close to Pavilion Technologies ... it has succeeded where many others have struggled in building a partnership with SAP."
Formed in 1991, Pavilion Technologies has 120 employees and claims to be achieving 40% year-on-year sales growth.
