17 Dec 2007
Wollaston, UK - Scott Bader has started up a new adhesive manufacturing plant at its Wollaston site, which features a new purpose-built area for adhesives mixing and the installation of a new second mixer. This investment has doubled the manufacturing capacity of the company's range of Crystic Crestomer structural adhesive and bonding paste products.
The expansion also involved extensive design and re-engineering on the press out and packaging facilities which operate along side the mixersat the Northamptonshire site, said the UK chemcials company. The operation, it added, is based on lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, with specific manufacturing cells that are fully accountable for quality and reliable production service.
According to Scott Bader, the extra capacity was needed due to a "dramatic, ongoing growth in the demand from luxury yacht and leisure craft boat builders around the world, particularly in the UK, Italy, France, Turkey, the Middle East and the USA."
