Lanes Health enhances mixing capabilities
22 Jan 2008
Lanes Health manufactures many different healthcare products, including 15 different types in tablet form, plus many other tablets for its contract customers. For a recent upgrade to its production process the company added a new all stainless steel mixer from Ytron-Quadro (UK) Ltd. The investment was intended intended to improve its production of solutions and suspensions used for film- and sugar-coated tablets ahead of the installation of new faster tablet coating systems.
The mixer has allowed faster mixing, ensured homogenous characteristics - even when iron and zinc oxides are used, according to Ytron-Quadro. Other benefits, it said, include minimal air-intake resulting in much shorter waiting times; a combination that imparts enhanced quality control and higher throughput..
The mixer is designed to deliver dry ingredients directly to the mixing head and achieve instant wetting and absorption. This avoids the problems of surface retention experienced when ingredients are poured into mixes and the longer mixing time required minimizing this. Ingredients are delivered to the mixing head via a hopper-fed by-pass pipe," added the equipment maker.
“The new Ytron mixer has helped significantly towards maintaining quality standards. Its mixing is more efficient than the previous process which in turn has boosted our output capability,” said Jason Tilley, tablet manufacturing manager - commenting in a Ytron-Quadro press statement.
