Under the deal, Alstom will commercialise and manage the installation of carbon capture solutions using the developed process. Dow, which is a major producer of amines, will support Alstom by leveraging its technical capabilities in the area of gas treating technology to co-develop an optimised capture system.
“The combination of Alstom’s air quality control experience and leadership in power plant steam, heat and water cycles with Dow’s chemical expertise and gas separation knowledge will allow us to produce the best amine-based carbon capture solution on the market, from both an environmental and an economic perspective,” said Philippe Joubert, president of Alstom’s Power Systems business.
“As we move into the demonstration phase, we are optimistic about the positive environmental contributions this unique new technology will enable,” added says Janet Giesselman, vice president and general manager of Dow Oil & Gas Solutions.
