Metal repairs normally considered impossible due to oil contamination or surface moisture can now be carried out with an innovative repair composite. Belzona 1831 (Super UW-Metal) is capable of bonding strongly to oily, wet and manually prepared metal substrates. It has been particularly successful in the power industry, where it was initially developed for use with ageing transmission systems. The two-component composite requires minimal surface preparation and no special tools, effectively displacing oil from a surface to enable the repair to take place.
