AxFlow Group / Ole Weiner - President and CEO: Weiner has been CFO of AxFlow since 2002, where he has also been regional manager of AxFlow East and AxFlow Nordic. He will keep both these positions in addition to taking up the position of regional manager central. The appointment sees Mats Karlsson become president and CEO of Axel Johnson International AB, replacing Anders Carlberg who is to retire, but will continue to hold a number of board assignments. Karlsson now becomes the new chairman of AxFlow Holding AB.
HRS Group / Stephen Wooler - Technical design engineer. Wooler's new responsibilities include the design of heat transfer equipment and providing support to the external sales engineers as well as technical and commercial support for customers. He has a degree in mechanical engineering and has worked in the heat and power industry for three years.
Sheffield Forgemasters International / Dr Graham Honeyman - Awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE): Recognition for Sheffield Forgemasters chief executive in the Queen's Birthday Honour's, due to his work in preserving and developing the heavy steelmaking and engineering industry in Sheffield. Honeyman was influential in the complete turnaround of the 200-year-old engineering company, which was hours from complete closure three years ago. He has also been a key player with central government, industry bosses and trade unions on the role of manufacturing in the UK economy. Honeyman returned Sheffield Forgemasters to profit in just six months when he took over the troubled company in 2002. Within less than three years turnover increased from £35m to £100m, rising from £83,000 to £150,000 per employee.
Sperian Protection / Stuart Turnbull - Managing director UK, Republic of Ireland, Middle East and Africa: Has worked for four years within the organisation as national sales manager of Timberland PRO. With 16 years as business development manager for Marigold Industrial, plus his work for Timberland PRO, Turnbull has over 20 years' experience in the PPE market, the Far East, Middle East and Latin America.
ENSR / Dr. Geoffrey Roberts - Client development lead for BP in the UK: Roberts, who also leads the environmental firm's UK’s Sustainability and Systems practice, will expand this role by serving as the company’s main UK business development manager for BP, a global key client for ENSR. He has 30 years of international experience with the oil, gas, and chemical industries, with particular expertise in environmental health and safety and knowledge management systems, mergers and acquisitions, and the EU regulatory framework, including extensive knowledge of the EU’s REACH regulations affecting chemical substances.
Flexicon / Neil Rainbow - National sales manager: Has 20 years' experience in the electrical industry working for both wholesalers and leading manufacturers such as Legrand, Hager and most recently MK. He will be responsible for Flexicon¹s UK sales team and for key accounts at a national level.
Grundfos Pumps Ltd / Simon Smart - Area sales manager representing its industrial end-user market team in Scotland and the North of England: Smart started as a mechanical marine apprentice at Rosyth Royal Dockyard working on naval ships and submarines. On completion of his apprenticeship he achieved a national certificate in mechanical engineering and continued to work at the dockyard as an engineer for a further three years before joining Woodside Pneumatics/Airchannel as a Service Engineer. He was promoted into an external sales role, where he enjoyed four successful years prior to joining Grundfos.
Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) / Professor William Banks - The 123rd president of the IMechE: Will step down as professor of Advanced Materials within the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Strathclyde later this year. He will continue the IMechE’s nationwide campaign to encourage more young people into engineering as the sector faces a shortfall of skilled staff. He replaces out-going IMechE president John Baxter, group engineering director of BP. Banks has been a leading advocate in the education sector calling upon the urgent need for Government and industry to work together to develop the next generation of engineers. Currently tens of thousands of engineers are estimated to be needed to fill vacancies in the UK from engineering technicians to senior engineering posts in transport, energy and manufacturing sectors.
Adept Scientific plc / Surak Perera - Applications support specialist: Joins Adept having recently completed a MEng in Aerospace at Southampton University. His Masters project was to design and manufacture a thermal mass flowmeter for an experimental rocket engine’s fuel intake system. Working initially on the popular Mathcad software, Surak will be extending his expertise to cover the full range of maths products offered by Adept. Paul Bragg, MD, commented: “Surak is a welcome addition to our technical support team and has a lot to offer both our customers and Adept. His extensive experience and knowledge of applied mathematics is exactly what we need for this very technical product range.”
Nuclear Engineering Services Ltd (NESL) / Richard Creed - Business area manager for all three of its operating divisions, Nuclear, Defence and Power Jet Systems (PJS): For the last four years Creed was MD of E2 Europe based in Cumbria and before that worked for 11 years at E2's Hanford office in Washington State, as North West office manager. NESL sales director, John Cooper said: “[Creed] brings with him a wealth of experience gained from his diverse background working on and managing contracts in the nuclear and environmental remediation areas.”
SLR Consulting / Graham Jones - Associate: Has over ten years’ experience in the waste and petrochemical industry, and previously worked for VT Environmental Engineering as a project designer, on its first PFI bid for a waste facility in the UK. He has also worked in Vienna, Austria for LUGA as a commissioning engineer/ designer engineer, on site up-grades at OMV oil refinery, and prior to that worked for PEKO AG in Zurich, Switzerland where he was a site manager overseeing the final building stage and plant commissioning of a 300 t/p/d MSW plant at Tynes Bay, Bermuda. Jones said: “I was attracted to SLR because of its in-depth knowledge in the energy from waste sector and its involvement in numerous planning applications for new EFW plants within the UK.”
RESON / Angus Cooper: Vice President of Sales for EMEA - Joins underwater acoustic sensors company RESON with more than 20 years of international work experience within the offshore and homeland security industries. He joins us from Thales, where he held various positions, most recently as Business Development Director for Homeland Security. Angus Cooper’s career includes working for companies like Fugro and Racal Survey.
