Bosch Rexroth to acquire Hägglunds Drives
31 Jul 2008
Stockholm - Bosch Rexroth AG is to acquire Hägglunds Drives AB of Mellansel, Sweden, subject to regulatory approvals, the companies have announced. The deal will expand Bosch Rexroth's industrial hydraulics portfolio and create new potential in growing markets, such as renewable energies, and mining and materials handling, said its chairman Dr. Albert Hieronimus.
Bosch Rexroth currently supplies hydraulics technologies and systems for industrial and mobile applications. At present, however, the company only supplies radial piston motors – the main product manufactured by Hägglunds Drives – for use in mobile applications, such as small construction machinery.
With around 900 employees and 2007 sales of around Euro200 million, Hägglunds Drives is an international supplier of complete hydraulic drive systems, separate drive motors and services. It has its main production site at its headquarters location in Mellansel, Sweden. Its other production sites are located in San Antonio, Texas and Columbus, Ohio.
The Swedish group develops, manufactures, markets and services complete drive systems for applications requiring high torque and variable speeds in industries, such as mining and materials handling, marine and offshore, recycling, sugar, pulp & paper. Its products are used to drive machines for producing bioethanol, and feature in the first prototypes for generating tidal energy.
