Newark, UK - Laurens Patisseries, the largest cream cake manufacturer in the UK, is employing an automated jelly mix system for the manufacture of a newly launched product. The PLC-controlled equipment, supplied and installed by Tetra Pak CPS, can continuously produce jelly, which is fed into holding tanks and feed fillers with a self cleaning clean-in-place system.
The computerised jelly mix system includes a recipe-handling feature which automatically pre-weighs sugar in a weight hopper and adds it into the mix tank as required. It has a 2,600 litre capacity where one batch can be made up while another is being discharged. This is currently achieving a continuous product flow producing up to 1,000 litres of jelly per hour.
Laurens, based in Newark, Nottinghamshire, supplies a range of chilled desserts in a private label format and has a turnover of over £70 million. The company claims to oeprate one of the most modern chilled desert manufacturing sites in the UK, with a production space of 135,000 sq ft.
