Big audience expected at first National Skills Conference

London - The National Skills Academy Process Industries is expecting to attract an audience of up to 300 delegates for its inaugural National Skills Conference, which will be held on 30 April at York Racecourse. The audience, it said, will comprise of industry, training and education providers and public sector / NGO organisations who have a specific interest in the process sector.
The conference will provide an opportunity to hear and see best practice solutions and to influence the future direction of the Academy. Keynote speakers for the event include Tom Crotty, CEO, INEOS Olefins and Polymers and Lord Tony Young, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Skills and Apprenticeships, DIUS.
According to NSAPI, the conference will focus on solutions to the real skills gaps and shortages that companies are facing in their workforces and facilitate networking between training providers and employers. It will also present the Skills Academy’s products and services, designed and developed in consultation with representative employers from the process industries.
The event is also designed to help employers recruit, retain and train teams of talented individuals to aid sector growth and raise awareness of Process Industries as a career choice for potential and future employees.
The timings for the event are 9.00am – 4.45pm for the conference, this will be followed by a conference dinner 7.00pm until 11pm, both to be held at York Racecourse. Rosie Winterton MP for Yorkshire and the Humber is to deliver the dinner address.
