ACTC details 2009 process control training event
11 May 2009
Leeds, UK - The Applied Control Technology Consortium (ACTC) has announced that its 2009 Process Control Academy training and awareness event will be held 16-18 June at Leeds University Business School. The themes of the event, which is supported by Emerson, will be the control of processes with dead time, model predictive control, productivity tools for control engineers, and wireless technology.
The training is intended to help process control engineers refresh their knowledge and increase their understanding of the latest techniques, and to guide operations and production staff looking for ways to get more from their plant. The content will help managers requiring an up-to-date overview of quality improving technology.
According to the ACTC, the overall aim is improved performance, better understanding and more efficient processes and working. This year's event, it added, will include new topics and hands-on exercises, as well as covering basic and advanced process control with end-user case studies.
The ACTC was established by professor Mike Grimble in 1990 with support from the DTI, to help end-users benefit from new control technologies and support industry-academia technology transfer. Supported by companies, including BP, Shell, Conoco, Total, GSK, RWEnpower and British Energy, it is is owned and managed by Industrial Systems and Control Ltd.
