Aker, Samsung miss out on ENI contract

Oslo – Eni Norge AS has notified Aker Solutions that the company will not be awarded the EPC contract for delivery of the Goliat FPSO. Aker Solutions was bidding for the job in partnership with Samsung Heavy Industries.
Under the Aker/Samsung bid, the engineering would have been be conducted out of Oslo, the topside as well as the integration of topside and hull would have taken place at the Stord yard, utility modules would have been fabricated at the Egersund yard. Samsung would have built the hull and living quarters.
This delivery model, including sub-suppliers, would have generated an estimated 7 000 man years in Norway during the execution of the engineering, procurement and construction contract.
“We are naturally disappointed, but our focus now is on winning other new build projects and securing our offshore competence in a challenging market, says Jannik Lindbæk, senior vice president for corporate communication in Aker Solutions. “It is too early comment on how this will affect the future yard capacity in Norway. We will now invite our employee representatives to work with us to get a common understanding of the current challenge.”
