Cogent launches Skills Match

London – Cogent has launched a free web-based resource to enable individuals and employers generate a detailed skills profile, to identify skills gaps and specific training requirements. The Skills Match service is targeted particularly at the chemicals, pharmaceuticals, nuclear, polymers, composites, petroleum and oil & gas industries.
According to Cogent, Skills Match can be used by employers to measure existing skills and identify gaps by comparing their company competence profiles against the industry standard. Individuals, meanwhile, can use the service to to benchmark their qualifications against industry standard job roles and find the job role that best matches their needs.
Other potential users include career advisors helping people to find out about the skills needed for working in science based industries and Jobcentre Plus advisors helping people to identify their transferable skills for moving into jobs in the Sector
Users can check their skills against Cogent’s two national frameworks for CPD; the Gold Standard and Nuclear Job Contexts. These set out the skills required for world class performance in key job roles in the science based industries. Skills Match enables the users to benchmark qualifications and training in four key areas of competence: Technical; Behavioural; Compliance; and Functional and behavioural.
