ABB automation for Goliat oil and gas field

Zurich, Switzerland – ABB has won an order worth over $60m from Hyundai Heavy Industries to provide an array of power and automation technologies for an offshore production platform at the Goliat oil and gas field off the northern coast of Norway.
The field is being developed and operated by Eni Norway. A floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO), which is currently under construction in South Korea, will be equipped with a complete package of electrical, automation, instrumentation and telecommunications products and systems from ABB.
“As one of the most important recent developments on the Norwegian continental shelf, the Goliat project will have access to the most modern technology available, as well as ABB’s long experience in oil and gas operations in the region,” ,” said Veli-Matti Reinikkala, head of ABB’s Process Automation division.
