Welsh Water deploys colorimetry devices at nine sites
10 May 2010
Cardiff, UK – Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has upgraded its water treatment monitoring systems to ABB’s new Aztec 600 colorimetric range. The deployment was part of a contract that also included instrumentation for conductivity and pH measurement.
The new systems have been installed at nine water treatment works, where utility is monitoring aluminium and iron using the Aztec 600 series, as well as phosphate, manganese and nitrate levels using Aztec 1000 units.
The devices combine Aztec’s patented fluid handling technology with ABB’s ScreenMaster data recorders, and are claimed to provide powerful, compact and reliable on-line colorimetric analysis of the main water treatment parameters. The low-maintenance design uses a single, piston pump to handle all sample and reagent fluids.
The Aztec 600 analysers feature a full-colour graphical display, while process data and historical logs are archived to a removable SD card. Notification of events or current measurement status, can be emailed directly to multiple recipients using the built-in SMTP client, through on-board ethernet communications link.
