Manchester, UK – Jam, marmalade and honey company Duerr’s has recently commissioned Denca Controls Ltd of Widnes, Cheshire, to upgrade its honey processing production line. The project followed the addition of a second melting chamber to increase capacity at the plant.
Denca’s latest brief consisted of upgrading the existing system by adding controls, modifying software, configuring and integrating new hardware into the existing process at the Duerr’s factory in Manchester.
The work included installing all necessary cables and putting the new system into service, said the automation and control systems company, which had previously carried out a number of major control systems projects for Duerr’s.
Process diagrams were drawn up and interpreted as a control philosophy programme employing a Siemens S7 300 PLC controller and a Siemens MP 270 HMI screen and new components built into the existing panels.
Once the system was up and running, a testing procedure was implemented to ensure that the new system was running smoothly, concluded Denca.
