Skills forum at the House of Commons

London – Cogent’s annual skills forum will take place 14 Oct at the House of Commons (12.45 registration for 13.00-14.30). The event focus on the essential skills needed to drive new technology and innovation and deliver competitiveness and growth for emerging technologies in the UK.
Speaker will include Parliamentary host for the event; Andrew Miller MP, Chair of the Commons Select Committee on Science and Technology, and Ian Shott, chair of the UK government’s Innovation Growth Team for Industrial Biotechnology, and a senior executive in multinational companies in the pharmaceuticals industry.
Shott is a keen advocate for skills development and a committed supporter of the National Skills Academy Process Industries and their bid to extend their remit into biotechnology and composites.
Meanwhile, Dave Drury, head of Technical Training for Existing Nuclear at EDF Energy will describe the development of nuclear training modules incorporating simulation facilities that have been developed with the National Skills Academy for Nuclear.
Cogent’s CEO, Joanna Woolf will launch Bio-Vision, Cogent’s blueprint to support the skills needs of the UK’s pharmaceutical and related biotechnology sectors, building on Cogent’s experience of delivering skills solutions for science-based employers over the past five years.
