Brunner Mond taps ITS for PIMS project

Northwich, UK – Industrial Technology Systems Ltd, an AspenTech partner, has recently been awarded a project to implement a plant information management system (PIMS) at the Northwich site of Brunner Mond – a manufacturer of soda ash, sodium bicarbonate, calcium chloride and associated alkaline chemicals.
Brunner Mond supplies sodium bicarbonate EP/USP to the pharmaceutical industry, where it is used in a wide range of products. The company needs a reliable, robust management information system to link to an Emerson DeltaV system and replace the current PRISM system.
The recommended solution was a PRISM / Questar replacement system consisting of ITS’ Fusion PIMS product, layered onto an AspenTech InfoPlus.21 system.
The Fusion PIMS is a web-based reporting and data-entry tool with an optional calculation engine for producing process accounting data. The product, based on an AspenTech InfoPlus.21 database was designed for companies with locked down desktops and is suitable for regulated industries.
When integrated with an InfoPlus.21 database, the PIMS enables users to manage weekly, monthly and yearly (periodic) operating reports, process loss accounting, batch information etc. With InfoPlus.21, it will also offer expandability to incorporate other legacy reporting and accountancy systems that may exist on site.
Data can be automatically retrieved via the system from plant equipment, DCS systems, PLCs, or other databases, reducing the need for manual collection of data.
