PE March/April: Steam versus thermal fluid for heating
3 Jan 2011
Despite the many advantages offered by thermal fluid systems – higher temperatures, improved accuracy and control as well as fewer corrosion issues, ease of maintenance, and greater flexibility – they have made few inroads against traditional steam systems in the process industries.
The next issue of Process Engineering magazine will include a feature on thermal fluids. For this, we are seeking readers’ views on the relative advantages and disadvantages of this technology compared to steam, and where they see potential to replace steam heating at their facilities.
