Aerators made by Landia have solved a serious odour problem for Hedensted Spildevand’s WWTW at Juelsminde in southern Denmark, where effluent from local food processors was causing unpleasant smells. Compressors and filters were looked at for the application, but Landia’s AirJet aerators, which draw liquid into the pump’s knife system and chop any solids into pieces, were considered to be far more efficient and cost-effective. Part of a £1M upgrade at Juelsminde, which is set to become one of three larger, more efficient Hedensted Spildevand treatment plants (superseding six smaller separate WWTWs), the odour problem was exacerbated by the length of time the effluent was spending in the pipes that stretch over several kilometres.
