Welsh water plants select control system

GPS Group has been selected by Black & Veatch to provide process control systems and software for water treatment plants at Dolbenmaen and Llyn Conway, North Wales.
The projects, which are currently under construction for water firm Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, are new builds designed to replace the plants that have come to the end of their design life.
GPS Group will supply both plants with low voltage switchgear, motor control centres (MCCs) and PLC / SCADA systems and software which will be linked to the business enterprise system.
The process control firm will also install a series of functional control panels to provide a fully automated treatment process at each site.
Similarly, both plants will feature gravity filtration treatment processes and treated water storage reservoirs.
The Dolbenmaen plant will also feature a pipeline from Cwmystradllyn Lake to transfer water to a hydro turbine supplying electricity to the works.
