German firm GEA Group has further boosted its profile within the food and beverage industry by purchasing Hilge, a leading supplier of hygienic pumps.
GEA is a major supplier for process industries, particularly food processing, with an emphasis on sustainable food growing. Its role as an international technology group has allowed them to focus on components and technology for sophisticated production processes in a variety of end-user markets throughout the world.
Hilge is a major supplier of hygienic pumps, especially stainless steel pumps for beverage and food applications. As Juerg Oleas, chief executive officer of GEA, explains Hilge will strengthen GEA’s position as a leading supplier of equipment, and provider of solutions, in hygienic and aseptic process environments.
Although the transaction remains subject to approval by anti-trust authorities, it is expected that this investment will only help strengthen GEA Group’s position as a market and technology leader in its diverse business areas.
