Feed control for crushers

The VEGAPULS 69 radar level transmitter from VEGA boosts efficiency in UK quarry.
The E & J W Glendinning Quarry in Devon has improved its productivity and throughput with installation of a VEGAPULS 69 radar level transmitter.
A secondary crusher feed hopper at the quarry used to be fitted with an ultrasonic level sensor. This hopper contained materials from dust up to 250mm with throughputs up to 400 t per hour. However, loss of echo through noise and dust caused regular production stoppages.
The new radar sensor has provided reliable performance and improved efficiency at the site.
This is because the radar is unaffected by in flight product, dust and filling noise, and the new ‘W band’, high frequency device is able to read to the bunker outlet, and maximise control.
