When insulation manufacturer Saint-Gobain Isover needed a protective coating system that resisted aggressive chemicals at its Runcorn plant, the company approached NCC Bund Lining.
Today SGI Isover insulation warms and protects one in three homes in Europe and one in five in America.
It is imperative that its manufacturing plant functions 24/7, 365 days a year. To help maintain this level of efficiency, a new secondary containment area was built for aggressive chemical storage tanks.
As several of these chemicals were aggressive to concrete, all of the surfaces had to be prepared and protected.
This was achieved by blastcleaning the area with contractor Thelwell Flooring applying the Atako ATB-300 RC protective coating system from NCC Bund Lining.
The system is based on vinyl ester resins that provide extremely high chemical resistance to a wide range of aggressive materials and, says NCC, also ensures mechanical resistance to abrasion and wear.
Saint-Gobain produces insulation materials for the housing market in order to meet the highest thermal, acoustic and fire safety performance levels.
These are designed to provide best value and safe solutions for the new build, renovation and technical building environments, in addition to helping protect the environment in line with Saint-Gobain’s corporate ethos.
