This is a one-year industrial postdoctoral research position funded by Omya International AG, a world-leading manufacturer of chemical specialties and construction products.
The successful applicant will join a dynamic, world leading multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists whose objective is the capture of carbon dioxide and its conversion into useful products. You will be based in Aberdeen but the work will involve travel to liaise with the industrial sponsor.
All candidates wishing to apply for this position should hold a PhD or equivalent and have knowledge of materials chemistry and process engineering, including laboratory-based characterisation techniques and standards. Experience in the development and design of industrial processes and systems will be taken into consideration.
You should be of inquiring mind, not afraid of accepting challenges, a hard worker and team player, and interested in the environment. Applicants are encouraged to provide a short statement about what they expect to bring to the project.
Salary will be paid at the rate of £32,548 per annum on the Grade 6 salary scale. Consideration will be given to making an appointment at Research Assistant level for individuals in the final stages of completing their PhD, Grade 5. Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a 12 month probation period.
