AI Expert Katragadda Appointed 142nd President of IET

Artificial Intelligence specialist Dr. Gopichand Katragadda has been appointed the 142nd President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the first Inidan academic to lead the global body.
The Founder of Myelin Foundry AI company, Katragadda serves as an Independent Director of Bosch India Limited and ICICI Securities, and is a member of the NASSCOM governing council for the Centre of Excellence for Data Science and AI.
He succeeds Professor Bob Cryan CBE, Vice Chancellor and CEO of the University of Huddersfield.
In his upcoming President's Address, Katragadda will delve into the evolving role of engineers in the age of Artificial Intelligence, highlighting the transformative potential of AI as akin to the early 1990s' impact of the internet.
The IET said he would urge that engineers can lead the way in shaping a resilient future by embracing innovation and technical advancements while dispelling myths about AI. Katragadda underlines the importance of engineers in comprehending both the positive and negative impacts of AI and working with policymakers to establish ethical guidelines and frameworks for data and AI applications.
The new president’s inaugural address, titled Engineers and AI: The Key to Delivering a Resilient Future, is scheduled for Tuesday, November 21, at IET London, with the event broadcast live via the IET's YouTube channel.
