Multinational technology company Siemens has renewed its two decades-long association with Manchester’s Hallé Orchestra, as major sponsor for the arts flagship’s annual young conductor competition.
Siemens head of business development Sue Bagguley said: "We are excited to support the Siemens Hallé International Conductor Competition once again, helping to shine a light on the links between technology, engineering and music.”
One of the most hotly-contested classical music awards, the Hallé competition provides a promising newcomer with the opportunity of employment for a minimum three years.
As assistant conductor, the winner will work alongside principal conductor and artistic advisor, Kahchun Wong, and also be music director of the company’s youth orchestra.
Deadline for entries is Monday 21 July, with the competition starting on 26 March 2026 and culminating in a trio of finalists conducting the Hallé in concert at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. To find out more, click here.
Siemens has supported the leading national and regional orchestra for more than 20 years, graduating to the role of major sponsor in 2011, including for the conductor competition, now in its third year.
The company said its sponsorship “allows us to find new and innovative ways to link engineering and music” and formed part of its educational and community outreach in Manchester.
