Cream of the crop for all seasons
15 Jan 2000
Installed and commissioned by Tetra Pak, a new cream production line at MD Foods' Oakthorpe dairy in north London offers variable production rates to cope with seasonal demands for cream such as at Christmas.
The line consists of a Tetra Clip 8 pasteuriser and a Tetra Alex 25 homogeniser. The pasteuriser is a chevron-pattern plate heat exchanger with a capacity of 3500 l/h. The Tetra Alex 25 is designed for high pressure cream homogenisation and has a maximum capacity of 12 650 l/h.
The modular design plant is built on skids and was delivered pre-assembled and pre-tested to the site where it only needed connecting to services to become operational.
To replace the dairy's existing Alert 500 control system, Tetra Pak has also installed an In Touch graphic system, designed to work with Siemens controllers.
