From bulk to bag and back again
15 Jan 2000
In many process industries solids handling comes down to no more than moving bags of material around. But the actual filling and emptying of those bags and sacks can be a little more complicated.
Spiroflow, for instance, is showing for the first time its latest bulk bag discharger, the Model T9. This features a full static grounding system for safe discharge in volatile operating conditions. Additional features include bag massagers, a pneumatic bag stretcher for total emptying, and other patented devices to ensure complete dust containment.
Also getting its first airing is Flexicon's new bulk bag (FIBC) filling station, which complements the company's bag dischargers. Standard features include a height-adjustable fill head with retractable hooks, an inflatable dust-tight spout connector, and a dust-free vent port for air displacement during filling.
Amongst its wide range of FIBC filling and discharging machines, Flomat Bagfilla is highlighting its range specifically designed for applications in the food, pharmaceutical and toxic chemical industries, where hygiene and containment are paramount. Flomat's design of equipment ensures that FIBCs, after filling, are firm, stable and straight-sided, ensuring they can be moved and stacked with no danger to operators.
Another first showing at Harrogate is by Accrapak Systems, with its automatic system for packing pellets and granules into open or valve sacks of up to 50kg. The system comprises Accrapak's Digital sack filling and weighing machine complete with a feed hopper and product sieving unit.
