Rospen's new pack fill
15 Jan 2000
Rospen Industries has launched a novel pack filling system which it claims could revolutionise the procedure. Codenamed 'Project Polly' the set up combines controlled continuous feed with the ability to fill discrete packets with precise weights of material.
Kim David, Rospen's md, says that Polly has been the subject of more research than any other product from Rospen during the past 10 years.
Polly was developed on the fundamental principle that if a truly constant flow of material was split equally by time, each portion would then be equal and exact.
Hitherto it was not possible for mechanical systems to repeat continuous weighments involving periods of less than 1s with acceptable deviations. And, where ingredients are combined, check weighers provide no solution to the problem.
Rospen asserts that gravimetric flow rate is extremely accurate adding that constant pack weight averages are tightly controlled.
Repeatability of the system has been shown to be between 2 to 5 per cent on weighments of 50 to 150 units per minute.
