Ajax cleans up powder problem
15 Jan 2000
A herbicide manufacturer experiencing feed and operational problems with an inclined agitated screw feeder contracted Bolton-based Ajax Equipment to solve the problem.
Ajax identified 13 design features which were adverse to good performance and led to unreliable flow, excess residue in the hopper and overloading of the drive unit. Moreover working stresses were jeopardising the durability of the equipment.
Ajax established an economical program for rectification of the feeder and secured unattended reliability within the design capacity of the equipment. The consultancy also advised on best practice and the fundamentals of hopper design.
Ajax also demonstrated methods for determining necessary wall inclinations for mass flow and self clearing duties.
