Mono Muncher solves solvent with a catch
15 Jan 2000
A major cement company in the UK, Rugby Cement, uses recycled solvent waste to minimise fuel expenditure. Recycled solvent, called secondary fuel, provides an excellent low-cost energy source. This by-product of the paint and printing industries is delivered and transferred to the main storage tank. But, it comes with a catch.
Secondary fuel contains debris which catches on uneven surfaces and builds up to form blockages.
To prevent pumps and filters being blocked, the solvent is passed through a Mono TR Muncher which has been installed on the storage tank inlet.
The TR Muncher uses cutters to grind large objects, reducing blockages and increasing flow because of an improved swept volume. Rejected solids drop into a collector which can be removed for cleaning.
