Advanced vector control is key to FKI's `3-in-1' drives
7 Apr 2000
The FID 3000 series of drives from FKI Industrial Drives provides 3-in-1 functionality using an advanced vector control (AVC) algorithm. AVC measures the parameters of the drive motor and uses a microprocessor to create an accurate software model.
The series covers the power range from 0.75kW to 600kW in eleven chassis sizes. The control strategy is common throughout the range, as is the MMI keypad and display, which keeps costs low. The drives are also equipped with an integral PID controller and real time clock for use in high level process applications.
In addition to the MMI the drive can be provided with FID DriveWare, a Windows-based drive programming package, which is an advanced set up control and maintenance tool. The package also supports communication interfaces for integrating the drives into factory automation systems. Base level serial communication uses a simple ASC11 based control language over a RS232 or multi-drop RS485 network.
