Control.Precision is good for the process
5 Dec 2000
Plant Automation Services (PAS) has announced the availability of Control.Precision, a new solution offering for improving the efficiency of automation in the process industries. Control.Precision takes a holistic view of process control by assessing, providing remediation, optimizing, and monitoring process control performance.
PAS is also announcing the restructuring of existing products and services under two solution areas: Performance.Plus to address process plant operations performance, and Integrity.MOC to address the maintenance management of automation systems.
In many industrial plants today, the support of process automation and optimisation is divided between field instrumentation maintenance and process control maintenance. Typically, the plant maintenance department supports the field instrumentation, while the process engineering department supports basic and advanced controls. Thus, an automation support and performance gap can exist between these critical components of plant operations, oftentimes leading to plant inefficiencies.
Control.Precision fills this gap by providing an integrated suite of control products and services that treat automation in a holistic way.
In addition to the introduction of Control.Precision, PAS announced the restructuring of existing products and services under two solutions areas. The first, Performance.Plus, improves plant operations by increasing operator efficiency. This solution focuses on optimising the relationship between the plant operator and the automation control system by improving alarm management, process monitoring, display navigation, and operator response.
The second solution area, Integrity.MOC, provides a maintenance management solution for the control system using DOC3000, PAS's system documentation offering. The purpose of Integrity.MOC is not only to ensure better operations, but also to facilitate compliance with industry regulations.
